MICHAEL HAIGHT CPA, CGA

Founder & CFO

Michael’s love for numbers started at a very young age by tracking and charting his baseball and hockey card statistics into Lotus 123. His interests eventually grew into a passion for business and accounting. He holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation, has experience in many different industries, and has been responsible for budgets upwards of $256M. Throughout his career, he has taken the lead on the establishment of new controls and processes and effectively streamlined internal processes to improve efficiencies, as well as been involved in the setup and implementation of multiple major software conversions. When he’s not working, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and managing his fantasy baseball team.

Gemma’s love of mathematics has taken her from engineering to accounting and from the United Kingdom to Canada. After earning her degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton, she decided to channel her proficiency with numbers into studying accounting. Gemma holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation.

As a Virtual Controller with Finatics, Gemma brings many years of experience working with international teams in the sales and service arm of businesses in various industries. When she’s not working with numbers, you’ll find her pursuing her love of exercise—whether that be a high-intensity workout, discovering the local trails where she lives in Ontario, or a family day trip with her husband and their two daughters.

KAREN LABATE

Karen Labate is a CPA candidate with a passion for learning and a knack for making financial information clear, actionable, and meaningful. Originally from Brazil, she moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2016 and brought with her a strong foundation in accounting, having earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of São Paulo.

Over the years, Karen has worked across a range of industries including tech recruitment, consulting, and restaurant franchising. She has successfully passed the Common Final Examination (CFE) and is in the final stages of earning her CPA designation.

Karen is known for her positive attitude, collaborative approach, and continuous drive to grow—whether that’s professionally or personally. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, walking her Labrador around Vancouver, CrossFit, and learning to play the drums.

Ashly is a Charted Professional Accountant who loves helping entrepreneurs grow their business by providing financial information that is easy to understand and actionable. Ashly started her career in the environmental consulting industry, where she found a passion for tackling challenges and working with numbers. Over the years, Ashly has worked as a Controller and in the Public Accounting sector across a range of industries including construction, hospitality and consulting.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time in the outdoors with her husband and their dog. You can find her unsuccessfully trying to out fish her husband.

ANNE PANGAN

Anne comes from a family with many accountants, so she was drawn to numbers from a young age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology, and after working in banking, she spent several years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as an accounting executive. As an Accounting Clerk with Finatics, Anne’s international experience in banking, real estate, and education, as well as QBO and Dext software, bring value to businesses of all sizes. She hopes to resume her studies in accounting so that she can take the board exam to become a Chartered Professional Accountant.

In her spare time, Anne stays busy with her husband Renz and their young daughter. They like to spend time outdoors, especially near the water. Someday, she plans to return to Dubai’s luxury outlet malls to go shopping.

Outside of work Marygace enjoys spending time with her loved ones, catching up with friends and showering her two adorable fur babies with love. She also enjoys to travel and is always on the lookout for her next island adventure or beach getaway.
