Starting up your own business is very rewarding, but it can also bring challenges along the way. Everyone wants to grow their business; but it can be difficult without knowing what resources are available. Common challenges businesses experience includes, not having enough cash available to fund operations and capital asset purchases when needed, hiring a team with all the expertise that your business requires, and not enough time and resources to do all the tasks that are required.

Thankfully, there are many programs out there to help entrepreneurs get started or to grow their businesses.

Below are a few resources that may help you along the way:

It is very beneficial to be connected and follow these programs as they can roll out new funding very quickly and require short turn around times to submit your proposals.

Some tips to ensure you have information ready for these types of grants and loan submissions:

  • Have your accounting records up-to-date.

  • Have Financial Statements prepared by a CPA Firm. Unless the grant or loan is for a start up, these programs usually require at a minimum a set of Notice to Reader statements.

  • Have a 1-2 year budget or forecast prepared that is easily adaptable for the type of submission required.

  • Your organization’s “story”. Write a short (2-3 pages) story about what makes your organization great, where you are now, where do you want to be and how you plan to get there.  Also include some bios of key members of your team.  Having this done in advance will be beneficial as you will not need to create this information under pressure to meet a tight submission deadline. Most of these programs will request some variation of these items.

With these four key items at your finger tips, you can easily tailor your information to your submission requirements and hopefully succeed in securing some additional financial support.

We wish you all the best on your journey to achieving your organizations goals and dreams.
